What Happens During the Lasik Consultation?
The Lasik consultation at Rancho Santa Margarita is similar to a comprehensive eye examination. The entire Lasik consultation may take 2 to 3 hours, so you should take some time off work for the consultation. You should also note that the consultation will include pupil dilation, which will increase your light sensitivity; please arrange to have someone drive you back home after the consultation.
The Lasik consultation will start with the doctor reviewing your medical history. After reviewing your medical history and prescriptions, they’ll administer a series of vision tests to measure your visual acuity and overall eye health. They’ll also administer specialized tests to identify the signs and symptoms of eye diseases that may preclude Lasik surgery as an option.
If you’re deemed a suitable candidate, the optometrist will take measurements of the inner and outer structures of your eyes to be used during the laser surgery. After the consultation, you should stop wearing contact lenses until the Lasik surgery because contact lenses make small changes to your eyes, affecting the Lasik surgery results.
